Assignment #5 Reflection
The Art of Seeing
REFLECTION: Ten photos from one spot. There was a great deal of contortion in this assignment. I really love my backyard and thought it would be a good place to shoot from since I believed it had many different views to offer. It was more difficult than expected, many of the shots I had in my head were boring in reality and didn't get taken. With an assignment like this, I think perhaps I would have done better to be in a more diverse area such as the downtown of Beverly.
I was able to get more up shots and straight on shots. My location was under the tree and nothing excited me at my feet. I am glad my dog came out to play or I would have been stuck. I was not happy with the last two as #9 made me think I should have been much closer to see the bird, and #10 is meh. Nothing is really happening.
This assignment pressed the idea of planning ahead and making the shot. There are some clipped edges where turning more would have helped out. It brings home the idea that the picture has to be treated as a whole and even when the focus of the shot is your favorite, everything needs to be considered.
Going forward I will keep this assignment in mind as I seek out the best angles to shoot from and to make sure everything that is in the frame is planned and intentional.
