With this shoot, I decided to work on a theme as well. My date of shooting was October 31, 2020, Samhain or Halloween, the time when the light half of the year turns to the dark half of the year in Celtic mythology. This year the weather threw us a curveball with an early 3" of snow one day and a slightly warmer day the next creating a sense of the change of Samhain. I decided to split up this assignment with parts autumnal and parts hibernal images.
Technically I explored using the +/- button on my camera to compensate for the glare from the snow on exposure. It was a bit confusing on my camera so I manually dropped or pushed up the exposure setting to compensate because I wasn't sure it was coming out correctly. Using the program mode to see where the camera was metering and if necessary adjusting properly was another skill I tried to work on with this shoot which seemed to be very helpful because I chose when to go with the suggested advice and when to trust myself. I'd say it was about a 50/50 ratio.
